After passing the bar in 1997, Lisa has practiced exclusively in the area of criminal law.

And has represented thousands of individuals charged with crimes ranging from shoplifting to murder. Lisa has earned a reputation as a very skilled negotiator and an outstanding trial lawyer. She has the unique ability to work with her clients with compassion and unwavering objectivity.  When negotiating and litigating, she is accomplished at humanizing her clients in the seemingly complex and heartless legal system.  She is a strong and poised advocate; this sets her apart from her peers.

Her training as a prosecutor in her early years enables her to instantly know criminal law from both sides making her extremely effective at knowing how to challenge the prosecution’s case.  She has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta. She has represented clients in British Columbia; Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and The Maritimes. Lisa has also had the rare opportunity to appear with Balfour Der K.C. at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Lisa’s clients know and compliment her as a lawyer who believes strongly in establishing positive working relationships with them. Her clients come from diverse backgrounds: clients with addictions to alcohol, drugs, and gambling; clients with serious mental disorders such as bi-polar and schizophrenia; clients with intellectual, physical, social and emotional disabilities.  Her cases have resulted in working with forensic experts in the areas of: pathology, child abuse, sexual assault, psychiatry, psychology, blood spatter, computers, accounting, and arson.

Lisa has a thirst for continuing education and attends seminars locally and internationally in the areas of Criminal Law, Conflict Resolution, Personal Development and Executive Coaching. These courses help shape Lisa into the unique lawyer she is.

In the legal community, Lisa is a member of the Calgary Criminal Lawyers Association, The Calgary Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association. Lisa has volunteered her time with the Alberta Bar Admission Course, Alberta Law Day, Calgary Legal Guidance, and Student Legal Assistance at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. Lisa is very passionate when she lectures on criminal law and her career to law students, articling students, legal assistants, paralegals and high school students.

Lisa is adamant about daily fitness, good nutrition and self-care. Lisa is a traveler and is very active when away from the office. However, she is never too far away, or off the clock, to assist her clients in need.
